Online and face-to-face clinical mentoring sessions
Private practice mentoring services are for employers who want to outsource clinical mentoring and in-house education for their physiotherapy employees. Effective clinical mentoring enables a physiotherapist to reflect on their current practise, maximise their strengths, and develop areas to improve.
This results in:
More appropriate, targeted and effective patient management
Improvement in statistics of interest to a practice owner, such as patient visit average, failed to attend, cancellation and rebooking rates.
The ultimate goal in clinical mentoring is to develop a physiotherapist’s competencies and skills beyond history taking and a physical examination. This encompasses communication and therapeutic relationship skills, development of sound clinical reasoning skills, patient education and current evidence for management of conditions. The physiotherapist is encouraged to develop reflective practice skills, which drives further development.
Clinical mentoring sessions are tailored to the needs, scope and goals of your specific practice, and the skill sets of your individual physiotherapists. This includes case discussions, joint consults, peer reviews, feedback on manual assessment, treatment and exercise prescription skills, and didactic teaching. A semi-structured curriculum that reviews different anatomical areas and their assessments can also be delivered if this is appropriate.
We deliver clinical mentoring:
In small groups
Face to face (within greater Melbourne area; or interstate for full day sessions)
Online via zoom.
Although practical skills are certainly best reviewed in person, many components of clinical mentoring can be effectively performed online. Telehealth is now a permanent feature of Australian physiotherapy practice, and physiotherapists need to develop competencies in delivering physiotherapy assessment and treatments in a digital format.
